Reports
The human rights situation in Liechtenstein is monitored and evaluated both nationally and internationally. Within the country, the Association for Human Rights (VMR) is responsible. It prepares an annual monitoring report in which progress is documented, human rights deficits are described and measures for improvement are proposed.
In addition, the government regularly publishes the Human Rights Status Report with facts and figures. Court rulings can also provide information on human rights developments - although there have only been a few relevant decisions to date.
At the international level, UN committees and expert bodies of the Council of Europe analyze the human rights situation in Liechtenstein. They examine government reports, occasionally carry out country visits and make recommendations. In addition, independent organizations can submit so-called shadow reports, which provide an additional perspective. The recommendations of the international bodies are published online.
As a member of the European Economic Area (EEA), Liechtenstein is obliged to implement provisions and directives relevant to human rights. The implementation status is documented in reports by the EFTA Surveillance Authority. The annual report on the rule of law in Liechtenstein, published by the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI), provides a further overview.

Monitoring reports
With its monitoring report, the Association for Human Rights (VMR) fulfills its legal mandate to publish an annual report on the development of the human rights situation in Liechtenstein. This includes the report of the Ombuds Office for Children and Adolescents (OSKJ) on the children's rights situation. It also makes recommendations where it sees room for improvement from a human rights perspective.
Until 2022, the Ombudsman's Office published its annual report and the monitoring report together in one annual report (see annual reports). Since 2023, the reports have been separate.
