The Association for Human Rights in Liechtenstein (VMR) was founded on December 10, 2016. It is Liechtenstein's national human rights institution in accordance with the UN's "Paris Principles". Its tasks are defined in the Law on the Association for Human Rights in Liechtenstein, VMRG (LGBl. 2016 No. 504). It is an independent contact point for human rights violations. | The OSKJ has been in existence since 2010. It is the national body independent of the authorities and works for children's rights in accordance with Articles 96-98 of the Liechtenstein Children and Youth Act. The OSKJ is tasked with protecting the rights and interests of children and young people, listening to their concerns, acting as a mediator with the authorities and monitoring the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. | The independent monitoring body under Art. 33 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was established in 2024. It ensures that the state takes effective measures to realize the rights of persons with disabilities. It is an independent point of contact for violations of disability rights. |
The VHR is a member of the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI). In 2024, it applied for membership of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI).
