Members

The VMR currently has 37 member organizations and 57 individual members. All eleven municipalities in Liechtenstein are advisory members. The municipalities and member organizations are our partners in assessing and monitoring the human rights situation. They are advisory and contact points and are familiar with many human rights problems from their daily work. They are aware of abuses and support us in setting the right priorities in our work and recommending the necessary measures.

The private members are people who identify with the goals of the VMR and help to ensure that human rights are firmly anchored in society and lived in everyday life. Through their attention, their commitment and their membership fees, they support the VMR mission.

The General Assembly is the supreme body of the VMR. It ensures that the association stays on course and fulfills its legal mandate to protect human rights. The Assembly makes important decisions to strengthen the association: in 2024, it established a procedure for the election of the Board of Directors that will ensure the independence and competence of the VMR in the future. The Board of Directors, consisting of five to seven independent experts, manages the strategic destiny and advises the head office. It is balanced in terms of expertise, age, gender and origin. The office is staffed by four people (a total of 2.1 full-time positions).
