What are states actually doing to implement the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities? In Liechtenstein, the MOBE monitoring office has been overseeing this important task since 2024.

Since January 2024, VMR has had a new mandate: the Monitoring Office (MOBE) to monitor the implementation of the UN CRPD.

For us, this means

  • an in-depth examination of the rights of people with disabilities in Liechtenstein
  • exchanging information with international bodies with the same mandate,
  • the development of a position paper that shows where Liechtenstein currently stands.

At the same time, a specialist committee is being set up to provide technical support for the work of the Monitoring Office.

"The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is not a distant ideal, but a mandate for everyday life - also in Liechtenstein. We want to make visible where rights are already being practised and where there are still gaps," says Lisa von Reden, who is responsible for the monitoring office

"For my everyday life, this also means: exciting networking and exchange discussions, such as with the IV in Liechtenstein, with partners in Vorarlberg or Tyrol and with international agencies," says the social worker enthusiastically.

We look forward to the road ahead, working with all relevant stakeholders and, above all, ensuring that the voice of people with disabilities takes center stage.
