New specialist committee for the area of disability

In November, the VMR's Disability Committee was appointed. The Committee advises the Advisory Council on its new task of reviewing the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This task was assigned to the VMR by law when Liechtenstein acceded to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in January 2024.
The 5-member expert committee is chaired by the VMR. The Liechtenstein Disabled Persons' Association represents the interests of people with disabilities in Liechtenstein. In addition, three independent experts from the fields of law, research and international cooperation have been appointed to the committee:
- Nuria Frei - expert in disability law
- Daniel Suda-Lang - expert for international cooperation in the field of disability
- Sibylla Strolz - expert in social work with a focus on disability
From 2026, the committee will meet three times a year. Once a year, it will also meet with people with disabilities and their organizations, relatives and friends to exchange ideas. Its first task will be to define working methods and key topics.
