Liechtenstein's initial report on the implementation of the UNCRPD
The report makes it clear that legal foundations are in place and responsibilities have been defined. At the same time, it highlights areas where urgent action is needed.
The VMR identifies urgent needs in the following areas:
- A national action plan for the UNCRPD has not yet been announced. Systematic planning with clear measures and defined resources is central to successful and rapid implementation.
- Election documents and key information from public authorities are still not accessible, which makes it difficult for people with disabilities to participate in politics.
- There is no systematic data collection in the area of disability. It remains unclear how many people with disabilities live in Liechtenstein.
- A silent emergency call system, which has been called for since 2023, has not yet been implemented or definitively planned.
- Sufficient human and structural resources are needed for sustainable implementation.
The above recommendations clearly indicate the areas in which further steps are needed to effectively implement the UNCRPD in Liechtenstein.
The Human Rights Association will continue to provide expert support for this process.
