In the run-up to Human Rights Day in November, the Association for Human Rights in Liechtenstein (VMR) and Podcasthus.li will be holding talks on the topic of freedom of expression and the right to information on Wednesdays. The event will conclude on Human Rights Day, December 10, at the SAL in Schaan.

🎙️ "Freedom, facts, fakes." | Episode 3 with Patricia Schiess:

"Fear of professional disadvantages: How the chilling effect is paralyzing freedom of expression in Liechtenstein." - Patricia Schiess

The chilling effect describes the phenomenon of citizens not speaking out publicly for fear of negative consequences (professional, social or legal), even though they have the right to do so.

How does this "chilling effect" play out in practice? Is the right to information really a comprehensive fundamental right in Liechtenstein? And what role does the Information Act of 1999 play in view of the challenges posed by AI?

Presenter Andreas Krättli from Podcasthus.li and Patricia Schiess, a lawyer at the Liechtenstein Institute, explore these and other key questions in the third episode of the series on Human Rights Day 2025.

Patricia Schiess is a lawyer at the Liechtenstein Institute and works intensively on Liechtenstein's constitutional and administrative law, including the legal framework for media and information.
