Equality expert sought for the VMR Executive Board
The Human Rights Association (VMR) is Liechtenstein's national human rights institution. Based on UN principles and national law, the association is responsible for monitoring and promoting human rights in Liechtenstein. This includes monitoring the CEDAW Women's Rights Convention and the Istanbul Convention on the Protection of Women and Domestic Violence, as well as monitoring the recommendations of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance – also with regard to LGBTIQA+. To strengthen our board, we are looking for an experienced specialist in the field of gender equality, gender, and domestic violence to start in May 2026.
Are you an expert with a focus on and several years of practical experience in issues relating to gender equality, gender, and domestic violence? Would you like to put your knowledge and expertise into practice? Then you will find a highly interesting field of activity with us!
What will your role involve?
We analyze the legal situation and the practical implementation of human rights in Liechtenstein and advise authorities and ministries on the implementation of human rights. Our office is a point of contact for people who have been affected by human rights violations. As a member of the board, you will provide strategic support to our institution on issues of equality and gender, including domestic violence, and assist our office in its advisory and monitoring tasks. The board meets nine times a year (monthly, with breaks in summer and at Christmas).

You will have regular opportunities to exchange ideas with national agencies and international and European human rights experts. You will benefit from the constructive and interdisciplinary cooperation within the board and the diverse and long-standing experience of the board members. You will receive meeting and expense allowances for the meetings.
What do you bring to the table?
You are a person with several years of practical experience in the field of gender equality. You are familiar with the challenges of domestic and gender-based violence. You have additional experience with issues of gender identity and sexual orientation. You are familiar with the political landscape and Liechtenstein legislation. Good German and English language skills are required.
As a member of the board, you may not hold any governmental or official positions in Liechtenstein in order to avoid compromising the independence of our institution. You do not need Liechtenstein citizenship or residence in Liechtenstein for this position.
