Equal Pay Day in Liechtenstein

24. February 2026
Accessibility
Read text aloud
February 20 marked Liechtenstein’s Equal Pay Day. The Liechtenstein Workers’ Association (LANV) is using this occasion to draw attention to existing injustices and the persistent wage gap between women and men through clear messages.

On average, women earn 14.1% less than men. This means they have to work until February 20, 2026, to earn the same income that their male colleagues will have already earned by December 31, 2025.

Gender equality will be achieved when:

  • women and men have equal opportunities for advancement and career development (regardless of family responsibilities)
  • there are no gender-based wage gaps
  • structural disadvantages are consistently eliminated

This requires a societal awareness of justice and equal opportunity. Politicians and businesses share equal responsibility.

In keeping with today’s date, the petition “Gender Pay Equality” will be submitted. State Parliament President Manfred Kaufmann will receive it at 11:40 a.m.

As early as June 14, 2023—Feminist Strike Day—176 signatures were collected within a few hours. The petition calls for:

  • Comprehensive wage analyses, integrated into gender equality indicators
  • Concrete measures to reduce wage inequality
  • Support for government measures by business associations in industry, commerce, and the financial sector
