Talking Together About the Rights of People with Disabilities
How do people with disabilities experience their daily lives in Liechtenstein?
Where are the barriers—and what needs to change to make equal participation possible?
On September 16, 2026, approximately 35 people with disabilities and their family members addressed these questions at a public event held at the SAL in Schaan. The focus was on the participants’ personal experiences and perspectives. In workshops covering the five areas of life—politics and participation, housing, education, mobility, and work—participants discussed together:
- What is already working well?
- Where are there difficulties and barriers?
- What changes are necessary?
This participatory exchange highlights the issues that people with disabilities themselves are concerned about and where concrete action is needed. The feedback will be evaluated by the Expert Committee on Disability and incorporated into the key areas of focus for 2027.
The event is scheduled to take place annually in the future. This is because the human rights of people with disabilities can only be realized if their voices are heard and their experiences are consistently incorporated into the further development of structures and services.
